The aim of Your Natural Portraits is to give you more realistic photos that will capture your memories forever. We take a more candid and photojournalistic approach to your portraits. Rather than being confined to a studio, where everything is artificial, we photograph you in a more natural setting such as:

• Your home
• The area where you live
• Your children in the comfort of their own environment
• Your own activity (such as walking on the beach, picnics, birthday parties, sports etc)
• Your own choice of location (such as your favourite park, beach etc)
• A location chosen by the photographer

Memories are precious, and our lives are changing constantly. Children seem to grow up in the blink of an eye. The traditional studio portraits capture our likeness, but not our spirit. So our approach is for us to fade into the background and capture your spirit, your emotions and natural expressions.

We are UK-based photographers who can offer photography services in and around Andover, Hampshire (England) and Ljubljana, Slovenia. Other locations may also be available upon request.

Ian Middleton (UK and Slovenia)

I am a writer and photographer from the UK. I am married to a wonderful Slovenian girl (whose photos you will see many of throughout this website) and divide my time between my hometown of Andover, Hampshire, UK and Ljubljana, Slovenia. My passion for writing and photography began after a 4-month journey around Mexico in 1997, where my eyes were filled with magical scenes and wonderful people. I wanted to remember these scenes, but not the tourist brochure images of a perfect world, but the true character of the country and its people. So upon my return I began writing and also bought my first professional camera and began my journey. In the years that followed I began to enjoy photographing people in their environment. I found that people were more interesting when they were not trying to be. During a visit to our friends in Ireland, they said that they didn’t have any photos of them all together, but that they hate posing for photos. So I suggested that we just go out walking for the day so they would feel more relaxed. They loved the results and now have a wonderful set of natural portraits.
So with this in mind, and with the help of other photographer friends, I decided to start Your Natural Portraits and offer others the same, a portfolio of images that will help you treasure those perfect moments in time forever.

Raymond Gilbert is our good friend who lives in Andover, Hampshire, UK. Ray has been photographing wildlife and people for many years and has developed a wonderful eye for an image. Ray has always had the enviable ability to see the world in a truly unique way and when it came to our wedding, he was the only person we would trust to capture our special day in the way we wanted.
